Apple's restraint, with its own face
Notes and agent reports open the way Preview opens a PDF, at a 72-character measure in iA Writer Quattro, on paper rather than a screen-white page. The document is the whole interface: no theme picker, no status bar, no panel of buttons around the words. Obsidian notes keep their frontmatter, wikilinks, callouts and tags.

Live reload keeps your place
Point Margin at a file an agent is still writing and the page reloads as the file changes, holding your scroll position instead of throwing you back to the top. A vermilion Updated marks the moment in the margin, and fades.

Your files stay on your Mac
Margin reads the files you open and nothing else. It has no account, sends nothing anywhere, and keeps no analytics. The outline, find, text size and serif-or-sans are all there, with nothing to configure before the first document opens.
After dark, a warm room rather than an inverted page.
Dark mode follows the Mac, and it is the same paper turned down — warm ink on a low, warm ground, with the vermilion marker still holding your place. Nothing is simply flipped to black and white.
